Gladstone Western Basin Dredging Project |
 | Gladstone Western Basin Dredging Project| Year | 2011 | | Location | Gladstone, Queensland, Australia | | Description | G-tec carried out geophysical survey in Gladstone. In order to develop the port’s western basin, dredging works will be carried out in some channels, so as to allow larger ships access to mooring areas. After these works, the port of Gladstone will be one of the largest in Australia, and will be ready to export the liquefied natural gas (LNG) that is produced on site. |

G-tec performed an object detection survey in the dredging areas, deploying Side Scan Sonar, Magnetometer and Subbottom Profiler. - Underwater imaging by mean of a Side Scan Sonar, in order to map rock outcrops, anthropogenic obstructions and the nature of the seabed sediments;
- Reflection seismic (Subbottom Profiler) and magnetometric survey in order to detect possible obstructions, such as pipelines, cables, anchors, as well as any other metal object above or under the seabed.
The results of this survey will enable the dredging contractors (Joint Venture of Van Oord and Dredging International Australia) to reduce downtime caused by unexpected large objects.
