Overview & Scope To meet environmental requirements and regulations related to coastal and marine development, G-Tec has developed capabilities in environmental domains to provide an appropriate and customized solution to clients. The proposed environmental appraisals and expertises are based on literature reviews which can be coupled with in situ measurements and observations. G-tec provides data acquisition, processing and analysis for: | | - Coastal Management (harbor infrastructures, marine works, protected areas ...)
- Harbor dredging and dumping of dredged materials
- Installation and planning of offshore wind farms
- Extraction of marine aggregates (EIA, permits search, prospecting license)
- Localization and settlement of cables and subsea pipelines (telecommunications, electricity, hydrocarbons ...)
- Detection of wrecks, cables, bombs, traces of human activities (trawling, gravel extraction)
|

Skills and Capabilities |
| Seabed sampling | | The sediment sampling and analysis (including fauna) can be performed by:
- Grabbing (Shipeck, Van Veen, Smith-McIntyre, Hamon, …)
- Coring & Vibrocoring
|
|
| Characterization of the water column | | The water column measurement can be done by:
- Water sampling from seabed to surface
- Analysis by external laboratory (pollution, oxygen, nutrients, organic matter, primary production…)
- Measurements by CTD sensor (Conductivity, temperature and depth…)
- Currents measurements, turbidity and suspended matter concentration assessment (ADCP)
|
|
| Laboratory mechanical and chemical test | | Characterization and description of the sediment can be performed through:
- Grain Size distribution, sedimentation analysis, petrology
- Shape of particles (Los Angeles Coefficients), sand friability, Micro Deval, density…
- Pollutant detection and detection of specific compounds (organic matter, chlorids, sulfates, sulphur, alcalin and soluble matter…)
- Sand/gravels shape analysis
- Other on-demand tests, can be performed in an external laboratory network
- Desk study – bibliographic research
|
| Benthic and halieutic studies | | The study of the benthic macro/megafauna, fish stocks and other living resources can be estimated by among other:
- Sampling (trawling, grabbing, netting…) and underwater video
- Identification and measurements in laboratory
- Statistical analysis and interpretations of the results
- Fishing inquiries – fishermen consultation
- Desk study about Fisheries activities and – bibliographic research
|
|
| Habitat mapping and Site investigations | | The storage, the compilation and analysis of the georeferenced database in GIS allow us to produce useful and precise maps of habitat. This data are acquired through investigations which cover operations such as: - Grabbing – Bottom sampling
- Imaging (Side scan sonar, camera, ROV…)
- Fauna/flora sampling and identification
- Desk study – bibliographic research
|
| Environmental Statement and Impact Assessment |
| We assist project carriers to take into account environmental aspect of their project by performing:
- A complete analysis of the regulatory context (code, law, order ...)
- A preliminary scoping based on the analysis of environmental constraints in different domains
- physical (geomorphology, currents, hydrodynamics, environmental quality ...)
- biological (benthos, fisheries, marine birds and marine mammals ...)
- human (fishing, boating, tourism, easements, traffic, safety, protected areas and regulated ...)
- A feasibility studies
- A multi-criteria analysis and integrated modeling systems
G-tec also assists its clients in their administrative approach and their regulatory files by supplying documents required by the statutory texts :
- Preliminary Studies
- Environmental Baseline Studies (EBS)
- Environmental Impact Assessment Studies (EIA)
- Impact Studies Natura 2000
- Statement Document and Authorization Document
- License applications, declarations or authorizations
