Seismic Investigation

G-tec : Seismic profiling

Overview & Scope

Seismic investigations provide essential information about the subsurface conditions for geological, mining and civil engineering projects. Reflection and refraction techniques determine the depth of sediment layers and bedrock, in addition to characterize compactness and bedrock quality.

The results define the suitability of resources for exploitation, dredging volumes and structural requirements.

Skills and Capabilities

Marine Reflection Seismics
G-tec : Seismic Investigation - Reflection Profile

High resolution single trace marine seismic reflection, frequently called Sub-Bottom Profiler, is an established and powerful method to investigate sub-bottom conditions. The investigations cover operations such as:

  • Continuous mapping of sub-bottom sediment layers
  • Top bedrock detection
  • Sand winning
  • Different systems in terms of resolution and penetration of acoustic signal
  • Pipeline detection

    Marine Refraction Seismics
G-tec : Seismic Investigation -Refraction Slices

Lightweight, efficient, cost effective system, G-tec’s UTSR is ideally suited for bedrock characterization in various conditions.

    • Easily adaptable system according to site conditions
    • Differentiation between sediments and bedrock
    • Assessment of the compactness of the bedrock
    • Determine weathering or fracturation of a rock mass
    • Real-time data processing
    • In water depths ranging from 1 to 100 meters

      Land Refraction Seismics
      G-tec : Seismic Investigation - Quarries

Refraction seismic method is commonly used for the mapping of the bedrock. It is ideally suited for rippability assessment. This cover operations such as:

      • Road works
      • Excavation works
      • Determine fracturation of a rock mass for quarry extension purposes
      • Depth to bedrock
      • Rippability assessment
      • Weathering and weakness zones in a rock mass
      • Trenching works
